How to get there: Take MTR to Chai Wan, Exit C, then Green Minibus 18M to Cape Collinson Road and walk to Big Wave Bay Beach

Tai Long Wan

Tai Long Wan, Sai Kung

Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Hong Kong, Tai Long Wan is a series of four sweeping bays within Sai Kung Country Park. Known for its clear water and rolling waves, it is particularly popular with surfers and those willing to make the journey. Reaching it requires either a boat ride or a hike, but the sense of space and unspoilt coastline makes it well worth the effort.

Clearwater Bay Second Beach

Clear Water Bay First and Second Beach

Among the most popular beaches in Hong Kong, Clear Water Bay’s twin beaches offer an easy, family-friendly option with excellent facilities. First Beach is smaller and more secluded, with slightly coarser sand, while Second Beach is larger, with finer sand and a kiosk for refreshments. Both have lifeguards during the summer months, changing rooms and shark nets, making them a reliable choice for a day by the water.

How to get there: From Diamond Hill station take Route 91 which stops at Clearwater Bay First Beach and terminates at Second Beach. You can also take Green Minibuses 16, 103 and 103M. 

Shek O Beach

With its golden sand, sheltered setting and dramatic coastal scenery, Shek O Beach is one of the most scenic beaches in Hong Kong. It is well-suited to a relaxed day out, with easy access, good facilities and a lively dining scene nearby. The surrounding cliffs also make it a popular spot for those interested in rock climbing.

How to get there: Take the MTR to Shau Kei Wan Exit A2, then take bus 9 to Shek O Beach.

Hap Mun Bay (Half Moon Bay), Sharp Island

Often listed among the cleanest beaches in Hong Kong, Hap Mun Bay is a crescent-shaped stretch of sand on Sharp Island, accessible only by boat from Sai Kung. The water quality is consistently good, and the calm conditions make it a strong choice for swimming. How to get there: Take a boat to Hap Mun Bay from a vendor at Sai Kung Pier.

Stanley Main Beach

How to get there: From Exchange Square in Central, take bus 6, 6A, 6X , 66 or 260 (the views are excellent!) From Causeway Bay take Green Minibus 40, or take the MTR to Chai Wan station Exit C and take Green Minibus 16M.

Chung Hom Kok Beach

Trio Beach, Sai Kung

A smaller, more tucked-away option, Trio Beach is located near Hebe Haven and offers a quieter alternative to some of Sai Kung’s better-known spots. Despite its slightly hidden location, it has full facilities and is well suited to families, with the added sense of being a little off the main track.

How to get there: There are two ways to get to Trio Beach, a 30-minute hike, or a 10-minute sampan (boat) ride. Both options require you to reach Pak Sha Wan (Hebe Haven) first. You can reach Hebe Haven by taking the MTR to  Choi Hung MTR Station, Exit C. Then take Green Minibus 1A.
