In collaboration with Shrewsbury International School
Shrewsbury School in Shropshire was founded by Royal Charter in 1552 and carries a tradition of academic excellence and over 450 years of heritage. In the UK, the school is one of the leading co-educational independent schools. Shrewsbury eventually extended its reach to Hong Kong with a purpose-built campus in Tseung Kwan O for children aged 3 to 11 years.

Shrewsbury Hong Kong offers an inspirational English National Curriculum, nurturing creativity, confidence and lifelong love of learning. Lessons are taught by a class teacher through a thematic based framework, whilst Chinese Language, Physical Education, Music and Performing Arts are taught by specialist teaching staff.

Being in Hong Kong, Shrewsbury Hong Kong has a strong commitment to Chinese language learning with a three-stage integrated programme. Teachers cater to each child depending on their level of language proficiency.
The school also places great emphasis on Music and Performing Arts learning, something that is rarely seen in academia-focused Hong Kong. The music programme at Shrewsbury Hong Kong includes weekly vocal lessons and students are encouraged to learn a range of instruments, from the widely practised recorder to the more unique ukulele. The learning takes place in the campus’ 2 music rooms and 6 peripatetic rooms, with performances reserved for the stunning 470-seat Auditorium and 100-seat Recital Hall.

To enhance learning, Shrewsbury Hong Kong emphasises the importance of reading, especially with family. The brightly-lit library boasts floor-to-ceiling windows and comfortable sofas for reading from, holding an impressive collection of books of both English and Chinese titles, with more being added regularly. Parents are encouraged to read to their children and are welcome to visit the library at any time. Students also have access to a concert hall, separate art and design studios, an aquatic centre with a 25-metre indoor heated swimming pool and a gymnastics centre equipped to professional standards.

Year 4 to 6 students are offered personalised advice from a dedicated academic team to ensure a smooth transition into the secondary learning journey. The team has detailed knowledge of secondary schools within Hong Kong and around the world to help parents make an informed decision, whether they are seeking further education in Hong Kong or overseas.
With years of experience, each child in Shrewsbury’s care is nurtured with great diligence through a broad, challenging and fulfilling programme. For families who value academic rigour, independence and high attainment, the primary-specialist provision school makes a great first step in a child’s educational journey.
