One Night, Eleven Bars: The Aubrey Hosts the Ultimate Cocktail Takeover

On 8 June, The Aubrey at Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong, will transform into the city’s most coveted cocktail stage for one night only for the Hong Kong Best Bars Takeover. Curated by Stefano Bussi, the Diageo World Class Bartender of the Year 2024 for HK & Macau, this gathering unites eleven of Hong Kong’s most innovative and celebrated cocktail bars under one roof. From high-concept sustainability pioneers like Penicillin to the molecular mixology masters at Quinary, and the Japanese-inspired elegance of The Aubrey itself, each bar brings a distinct style and story. Guests can expect a rotating line-up of guest shifts and two signature cocktails per bar, priced at $180 each. This unique collaboration offers a rare snapshot of Hong Kong’s vibrant and diverse cocktail scene, celebrating both tradition and experimentation. A night for cocktail connoisseurs and curious sippers—this is Hong Kong’s bar culture at full throttle.

Mandarin Oriental Brings Tokyo’s Best Pizza to Hong Kong – But You’ll Have to Wait for the Next Slice

If you need any proof that Hong Kong is a city obsessed with culinary excellence, look no further than the lightning-fast sell-out of Mandarin Oriental’s four-day pop-up with The Pizza Bar on 38th. From 19 to 22 June, the legendary Executive Chef Daniele Cason was set to bring his cult Tokyo pizzeria to the city for a limited-time omakase-style pizza experience — and tables were snapped up almost instantly.

Hosted in a transformed chef’s table setting complete with a gourmet pizza oven, the pop-up promised a rare degustazione menu of Roman-style pizza alla pala, topped with seasonal ingredients like warayaki tuna, wagyu beef, and duck sausage. With a Fior di Latte dessert and a choice of curated wine pairings, this was no ordinary pizza night — it was a masterclass in dough, fire and finesse.

Editor’s Note: All reservations for the pop-up are sold out — but don’t worry, a permanent Pizza Bar is on its way to Mandarin Oriental’s Mezzanine floor as part of the hotel’s sweeping renovation, due to complete in 2026.

Une Soirée Blanche at The Peninsula Hong Kong

Channelling the decadent spirit of Saint-Tropez, The Peninsula Hong Kong is bringing Riviera glamour to Victoria Harbour later this month with its first-ever Soirée Blanche—a one-night-only alfresco affair of Champagne, sunset views and Provençal indulgence. Guests are invited to don their finest all-white ensembles for an evening that begins with golden-hour cocktails on the hotel’s Sun Terrace, accompanied by a live DJ and saxophonist. Expect free-flow Louis Roederer in magnum, Domaines Ott rosé, and beautifully plated Mediterranean fare—think lamb shoulder with ratatouille, Niçoise salad, and the iconic Tarte Tropézienne. If you’re after summer escapism without boarding a plane, this is your passport.  Tickets are priced at $2,888 per person; VIP tables from $18,000 for five (incl. Cristal).

Mott 32 Elevates the Art of Celebration Dining

Mott 32’s latest menu quietly raises the bar for celebratory dining in Hong Kong. Leading the line-up is a new take on its signature Peking Duck: the eight most prized cuts, each topped with caviar and served on handmade bao, designed to be eaten as-is — no wrapping required. The familiar Pluma Iberico Pork returns with a twist, gently smoked with apple wood and revealed tableside in a custom box. Crispy eel, glazed in osmanthus honey and finished with a golden crunch, nods to nostalgic street food with a refined edge. Even dessert leans seasonal, with a sour plum panna cotta layered in coconut ice cream and roselle snow. As ever, Mott 32 balances precision, tradition and just enough drama to make a dinner feel like something more.

Pastry with Purpose: Baptiste Villefranque Teams Up with Shine Students

Launching on 3 June, RÉN’s Egg Tarts for Good is a heartfelt pastry project bringing together acclaimed pastry consultant Baptiste Villefranque, Patisserie Millefeuille’s chef Lionel Bodros, and HKGTA head pastry chef Chan Chun Fai. In collaboration with Shine students and instructors from the Vocational Training Council, the team has created beautiful egg tarts made with locally sourced Yuen Long eggs—celebrating Hong Kong’s agricultural roots while supporting Shine’s humanity programmes, which provide kitchen training and employment opportunities for disadvantaged youth. 

The egg tarts are priced at $35 each, with all proceeds supporting Shine’s Vocational Training Centre. They will be available for purchase from 3:00pm to 4:30pm on 3 June at Shine Lions Club Café. After the launch, just 50 tarts will be available every Friday, by pre-order only. Orders can be placed via the r é n website or by emailing info@renhongkong.com. A minimum of one dozen is required per order, with pick-up only and at least one week’s notice.

Adding an extra layer of joy, the campaign also marks the launch of r é n n y, a new mascot inspired by the humble egg and a philosophy of kindness and inclusion. You’ll spot r é n n y in comic strips, animated shorts and street interview videos with RÉN’s Programme Coordinator Nathan Leung and students as they explore everyday acts of goodness. Spice and Spirit: India’s Top Bars Take Over Macau for One Night Only

For one night only on 6 June, Macau plays host to a rare kind of cocktail diplomacy. Wing Lei Bar at Wynn Palace welcomes three of India’s most forward-thinking mixologists for A Taste of India — a showcase of the subcontinent’s fast-rising cocktail scene. Expect Goa-meets-Ginza creativity from Rajib Mukherjee of Bangalore’s ZLB23 (ranked No. 40 on Asia’s 50 Best Bars), foraged botanical brilliance by Macleigh Fernandes from The Lab at Amaraanth, and bold, rum-forward pours from Veer Chhetri of Bar Outrigger. Together, they offer a spirited snapshot of modern India, in three very different flavours.

Passport in One Hand, Bao in the Other

Little Bao’s new summer menu features four innovative dishes inspired by ingredients from iconic summer destinations around the world. First up: the Porkchop Bao, a cheeky nod to Hong Kong’s classic baked pork chop rice, reimagined with grilled Kagoshima pork, zingy tomato ssamjang, melted cheese and a five-spice pineapple chutney that adds just the right amount of sweetness. It’s rich, nostalgic and a little bit wild—in the best way. The Tomato Plum Salad is lighter but no less punchy, with juicy tomatoes, crisp cucumber and whipped feta, all tied together with sour plum vinegar and perilla. For something heartier, try the Pad Thai-style silver needle noodles, tossed with tiger prawns, tamarind and sakura shrimp—it’s wok-fried and full of bold flavour. And don’t skip dessert: the Margherita Ice Cream Bao is weird and wonderful, layering tomato jam, basil and cheese ice cream inside a fried bao. Unexpected? Yes. Worth trying? Absolutely.

A Slice of Singapore in Soho

Singapore’s top-ranked ANTO lands in Hong Kong this June for a five-night-only pop-up at Soho favourite Fiata, uniting two of Asia’s most lauded pizzaioli under one roof. From 16 to 20 June, Chef Salvatore “Sasà” Fiata and Chef Antonio Brancato reprise their award-winning collaboration, following recent acclaim on the 50 Top Pizza Asia-Pacific list. Expect Fiata’s signature Bronte 5.0 ($198)—a pistachio, mortadella and ricotta masterpiece—served alongside ANTO’s Rustica ($198), layered with salsiccia fresca and smoked scamorza. Also on the menu: the Provola e Pepe ($198), crowned Pizza of the Year 2024, and the whimsical Baby Popeye ($188). Start with the Fassona beef tartare ($168), finish with a classic tiramisù ($88). More than a culinary crossover, this is a celebration of shared roots and serious craft. Seats are limited, and so is the run—book early via WhatsApp at +852 6032 6626. Dinner only, 6–9:30pm.
