Reasons we will always love Hong Kong (by our readers)

View of Hong Kong from The Peak

The last few weeks have seen many Hongkongers return home after spending extended time abroad over the summer. Here, they share what they missed while travelling and why, for them, Hong Kong will always be Home Kong.

  • “I am especially glad to be back in Hong Kong because there are no transport strikes! We had so many in France over the summer, it was almost impossible to get around!” – Celeste who traveled to France and UK with her family
  • “I’m so happy to be back in Hong Kong nature. I missed the outdoors and hiking” – Adrianne who visited family in Amsterdam
  • “I missed my wonderful helper who is part of our family. She also cooks far better than I do and so our whole family is delighted they no longer have to eat my cooking now that we are back!” – Kate and her family explored New Zealand

  • “I am happy I can take the Star Ferry again and enjoy the beautiful scenery across Victoria Harbour” – Clo spent the summer in The Hamptons
  • “While Covid restrictions are still in place, they certainly have eased up and I am glad to be back in a more relaxed Hong Kong” – Matthew visited family in Australia
  • “Hong Kong is so safe, I can go out at night and take public transport without being worried, like I would be in Europe or in the US” – Jonathan sailed around the Mediterranean this summer
  • “Everything in Hong Kong is so close, within a 40 minutes drive. I love the mix of a big city and wild, untouched nature – we can do 10 different things in a day!” – Alice who travelled to the South of France
