Hong Kong’s Most Magical Halloween Events for Families in 2025

From spellbinding hotel adventures to villain-led dance parties, Hong Kong takes Halloween seriously — but always with a little sophistication. Whether you’re planning a family weekend or simply seeking inspiration for a costume worthy of the season, these are the city’s most enchanting celebrations this October.

Island Shangri-La’s Enchanted Halloween Returns

Hong Kong’s favourite family Halloween celebration makes its grand return as Island Shangri-La transforms into a world of spells, stories, and sugary mischief. Now in its fifth year, the event brings back Lyra the Little Witch and her merry band of friends for a weekend of imagination and play. Children aged three to eight can join Lyra’s Magical Halloween Quest, an immersive theatre experience of song, dance, and adventure, complete with a hay maze, potion-making, and pumpkin carving.

For those who prefer a little friendly competition, the Best Dressed Contest in the Lobby Lounge invites families to don their most enchanting attire for an afternoon of music, magic, and prizes—including a stay in one of the hotel’s whimsical themed suites.

From our own past experiences, we can confirm that Island Shangri-La remains Hong Kong’s most elegant setting for family-friendly Halloween fun.

Lyra’s Magical Halloween Quest runs on 25–26 October, from HK$688 for one adult and one child (single adult HK$398; single child HK$298). The Best Dressed Contest takes place on 26 October, with group tickets (up to four guests) at HK$980, or single entries priced at HK$328 for adults and HK$198 for children. Bookings can be made via (852) 2877 3838 or at boutique.shangri-la.com.

Disney Villains Take Over Hong Kong Disneyland

To mark its 20th anniversary, Hong Kong Disneyland Resort is conjuring up its most wicked Halloween yet. From 19 September to 2 November 2025, the park transforms into a playground of villainous glamour as Maleficent and her crew crash the celebrations for Disney Halloween Time.

The all-new Uninvited! A Villains Takeover Party turns Main Street, U.S.A. into a darkly dazzling dance party led by the “Mistress of All Evil” herself. Guests can encounter hero-villain duos including Maleficent and Aurora, The Queen and Snow White, and Loki and Thor, while the hit musical Let’s Get Wicked returns to the stage.

Families can also enjoy Jack Skellington’s The Nightmare Before Dinner (HK$498–$598 adults / HK$398–$498 children) and seasonal experiences from trick-or-treat trails to the spooky Jungle River Cruise: After Dark. Hong Kong residents can take advantage of the “Double the Fun” offer—two park visits plus dining and shopping vouchers—from HK$879 adults / HK$669 children.

Tickets, premium passes (Disney Premier Access – Let’s Get Wicked from HK$99), and themed hotel packages can be booked via hongkongdisneyland.com.

A Halloween by the Bay

Green Sunday by the Bay returns to The Repulse Bay this autumn, bringing together wellness, sustainability and a sense of seaside calm — but this October, it takes on a playful twist. Alongside sea-view yoga, spinning sessions and artisanal workshops, families can look forward to a Halloween celebration designed with little ones (and their grown-ups) in mind.

Set against the backdrop of the South China Sea, Green Sunday by the Bay: Halloween Edition transforms The Repulse Bay’s front lawn into a stage of song, story and imagination. Hosted by musical theatre performers Roy Rolloda and Delia von Pflug from Creative Collab, the Halloween Stories, Songs & Dance Party invites children aged 3 to 12 to join a morning of music, movement and make-believe under the autumn sun.

After the party, parents can refuel with a complimentary drink and unwind over a leisurely dinner at The Verandah or Spices, where participants enjoy 15% off on the same day. Families can also explore the Green Market, a thoughtfully curated collection of organic wines, artisanal foods and locally made treats — from farm-fresh produce to small-batch gelato.

The Halloween Stories, Songs & Dance Party takes place on Sunday, 26 October, with sessions at 11:15am–12:00pm and 3:45–4:30pm. Tickets are priced at HKD 350 per family (up to three people), with HKD 100 for each additional guest. Bookings can be made here
