Few places feel as luxurious as The Langham, Hong Kong at Christmas. The lobby is dressed for the season with a 160th-anniversary tree glowing in soft shades of pink, white and gold, a palette that brings a modern kind of festive beauty to the space. My five-year-old, who now considers hotel lobbies her natural habitat, made a beeline for it before promptly shifting her allegiance to the teddy bear offered at check-in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Beyond the lobby, the sense of celebration runs through the entire hotel, from festive menus to thoughtfully designed stay experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suite life, holiday edition<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For those staying in Hong Kong for the holidays, a December check-in delivers the kind of reset only a luxury hotel can. Until 31 December, the Holiday Joy Room Package<\/strong><\/a> includes thoughtful details that bring the spirit of the season into the stay, with school choirs and dance performances in the lobby on selected evenings adding a warm, celebratory note to the experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We checked in for a two-night stay in a Club Executive One-Bedroom Suite<\/strong>, which quickly became a quiet retreat high above Tsim Sha Tsui. Perfect for families, the separate lounge allows bedtime to remain bedtime while grown-up time continues uninterrupted. The generously sized bathroom, complete with a deep bathtub and Diptyque products, became my favourite place to unwind after cold days out in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The suite carries a distinctly Home Alone<\/em> quality in the most charming way. One evening, we leaned into it fully, ordering ice cream from room service and settling in to watch a Christmas classic on the TV above the fireplace. A surprise delivery of The Langham Signature Dry Gin and nibbles made the moment even more memorable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For guests with club access, The Langham Club<\/strong> offers a quiet all-day sanctuary that\u2019s increasingly rare in Hong Kong. It is remarkably easy to forget how lively Canton Road sits just beyond the windows. Evenings are a particular pleasure, with chilled glasses of Perrier-Jou\u00ebt, cocktails and a generous spread of charcuterie, cheeses and seasonal desserts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up on the rooftop, in-house guests can enjoy the heated pool and hot tub, open year-round, alongside a two-level, 24-hour gym for anyone keeping to a routine. There is also a weekly run club, along with seasonal activities and live music in Palm Court on selected evenings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Palm Court: pastry, pearls and holiday glow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Palm Court feels especially festive this year thanks to its collaboration with Chow Sang Sang. The Wonders in Light Afternoon Tea<\/strong><\/a> is inspired by the jeweller\u2019s YuYu collection, with pastries shaped with the same precision as fine jewellery. Expect delicate ocean-inspired savouries, pastel-coloured cakes that resemble miniature sculptures and warm scones served with rose petal jam. Each table receives an exclusive Chow Sang Sang jewellery box. Prices start from HKD738 for two until 31 December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the evenings, Palm Court offers a four-course Festive Set Dinner<\/strong> from 24 to 26 December. Starters include cranberry and apple quinoa salad or cumin-flavoured shrimps, followed by a velvety butternut squash velout\u00e9 with roasted hazelnut and Gruyere. Mains range from Proven\u00e7al beef tenderloin to turkey roulade with chestnut stuffing, with the menu concluding on a classic Christmas note. The dinner is priced at HKD798 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pastry team has created a charming collection of Mini Christmas Cakes, including pistachio Christmas trees and raspberry Santa hats, each priced at HKD88 and almost too pretty to cut into.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those hosting at home, Palm Court\u2019s Deluxe Turkey To Go<\/strong> is a saviour on Christmas Day. The 6kg roast, sourced from the UK, serves six to ten and comes with all the trimmings \u2014 chestnut stuffing, Brussels sprouts, mashed potatoes, buttered carrots, gravy and cranberry sauce. Priced at HKD1,888, it is an elegant solution for anyone planning to entertain without spending the day in the kitchen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On New Year\u2019s Eve<\/strong>, Palm Court sets the tone for the final countdown with Champagne, caviar canap\u00e9s and live music, priced at HKD888 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Buffets, but make them Langham<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Food Gallery<\/strong><\/a> is where The Langham\u2019s festive spirit becomes wonderfully social. The Christmas buffets are lively, abundant and well suited to family celebrations, office gatherings or an indulgent seasonal meal with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both the Festive Brunch<\/strong> and Festive Dinner Buffets<\/strong> run on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December, as well as 1 January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brunch features a generous selection of chilled seafood \u2014 snow crab legs, brown crab, New Zealand mussels, whelks and prawns. Classic festive dishes follow, from turkey roulade with chestnut stuffing to bratwurst sausages, alongside a dessert station of panettone, chocolate chestnut cream puffs and apple strudel with vanilla sauce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The evening buffet includes live oysters on ice, steak carpaccio salad and duck liver mousse on toast, while chefs prepare Boston lobster, seared duck liver with fig and roasted lamb rack to order. Holiday favourites such as pineapple-glazed ham and beef Wellington anchor the experience, while desserts include Christmas pudding, Stollen, a chocolate raspberry Yule log and an old-fashioned Alaska cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prices begin at HKD608 per adult for brunch and HKD1,038 for dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Christmas, the Langham way<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In true Langham style, Christmas here exudes a quiet kind of elegance. The tree sets the tone, its pink and gold palette dotted with ornaments shaped like Big Ben and the Star Ferry, a gentle nod to the hotel\u2019s British roots and its Hong Kong home. Wreaths, garlands and soft lighting carry the mood through the lobby and lounges, and on selected evenings, live music from Palm Court adds an almost old-world charm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me, the hotel remains one of the most atmospheric places to spend a winter\u2019s day in Hong Kong. A glass of Champagne in the lobby, a lingering tea at Palm Court or a stay in one of the hotel\u2019s beautiful suites with time for an unhurried soak in that bathtub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
